Mars in gemini (almost retrograde) square Neptune in Pisces

Mars in Gemini squares Neptune in Pisces for almost 2 months. We started feeling this energy in early October and will continue to feel it through the end of November (as Mars slows down to station retrograde). These themes will return again in January as well, for resolution.

Mars is our energy, how we take action, how we fight, and how we go after what we want.

Neptune represents our dreams, visions, and that which is otherworldly. Neptune can confuse, overwhelm, and bring up grief. Neptune can also inspire and connect us to experiences of a greater, more universal love.

With Neptune in hard aspect to Mars (meaning more difficult), you may be feeling tired, worn out, and perhaps not totally satisfied with how you’re spending your energy. This is normal, as Neptune allures us to focus on that which the soul longs for.

Overwhelm is normal, as is the desire to go towards what is purposeful and meaningful to you. This transit is an unfolding of a renewal in how and where your energy is spent, as is this entire Mars retrograde (from October 30th-mid January).

Perhaps you’re forced to take retreat, being in between things. Maybe you’re feeling lost. It could be that you feel split between too many things (Gemini can be scattered) and your nervous system is taking a toll.

Other possibilities include: lacking confidence about something, being confused about where you’re going or what’s going on, having the urge to sacrifice yourself for a greater cause, being motivated more by empathy and compassion, having a drive towards escapism, or needing a break from the mundane and a taste of enchantment (fantasy novels anyone?).

Whatever is going on, let yourself float to the things that move you on an emotional level.

Allow yourself to cry about what has been lost and imagine what is still possible.

Connect with divine love and let that propel you forward.

Give yourself time to day dream, to wander, and explore without an exact destination in mind.

Healthy escapism looks like getting lost in art, music, dance, nature, stories, and connection, as we allow ourselves to become enmeshed with the magic that is always around us.

Solar Eclipse in scorpio conjunct venus (October 25th)

We had a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio conjunct to Venus at 2 degrees of Scorpio today (Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at 4:48am MT).

Eclipses indicate times of change. They represent endings and beginnings. And with this Eclipse close to the south node, there’s a theme around emptying out and letting go of something, perhaps because you’ve enjoyed excess for a while or perhaps because it’s time to move on.

These themes are not new for you. We had the first Eclipse in Scorpio in May of 2022. And we’ll have a third eclipse in Scorpio in May of 2023.

In ancient Astrology, the Moon is known to be in her Fall in Scorpio. This is because Moon wants comfort and Scorpio wants to know what’s lurking beneath the surface, which is often far from comfortable.

Venus is also said to be in exile in Scorpio. This is also because Venus is a planet that cares about etiquette, social cohesion, and being nice and polite. Scorpio, on the other hand, doesn’t care for niceties or social rules. Scorpio wants the truth, plain and simple.

With both the Moon and Venus in a tough position during this eclipse, a moment of lights out in heaven where vulnerability is felt, we may experience some challenging changes with Venusian and Lunar themes that could feel surprising or that are simply disorienting.

And with Mars, the planet that rules Scorpio (where this Eclipse is happening), about to station retrograde in a square to Neptune, the changes underway may appear unclear and nebulous. We might be needing to retrace our footsteps, re-negotiate something, or review what we signed up for, with an unclear path ahead of us.

Themes of home, family, mother, body/health, relationships, women, beauty, wealth, luxury, and art may suddenly take a more complicated twist or become topics that have an intense flavor. Complicated doesn’t have to mean bad, however.

Astrology doesn’t make things happen to you. It’s simply reflecting life as timing unfolds, just as the Moon reflects the Sun’s light. And we have some power over the cosmic tides. We may not have control over everything that happens to us, and sometimes we have to go through hard things- there’s a time for everything. But we can have an influence over our responses and, as Astrologer Chani Nicholas says, how resourced we are (to the best of our ability).

Eclipses (especially this one) are good times to be well resourced. This will look different for each of us, but generally, some helpful tips are to rest/don’t make big plans, hunker down with someone you like, and take good care of your body and emotional well-being (Moon).

This is not a time to manifest or plant seeds of intention. The energy is too potent; the field too tense.

Trust that whatever adjustments are being made were meant to happen all along, even if we can’t see the reason behind them right now or they’re frustrating, don’t make sense, or add stress.

For, we are all on a soul’s journey; a hero’s journey- where we must trust our footing and continue onward, forging the path we were always meant to walk, gathering stories, learning lessons, and having fun along the way.

The Sun enters Scorpio (October 23rd)

Scorpio season is here! (With Venus along for the ride)

The Sun will be in Scorpio until November 23rd. And it is while the Sun is here that we enter into Eclipse season! Get ready for changes in the part of your chart that contains Scorpio (more on this later).

Scorpio season reminds us that everything in life eventually dies and that nothing lasts, as everything in the natural world goes to seed after the harvest in the northern hemisphere.

Therefore, Scorpio also reminds us to keep close our dearest, for we never know how long they’ll be with us- and to be honest and real, for trust is a life or death issue when we don’t know who may or may not kill us for food or whether there’ll be enough resources at all, to make it through the long, cold and dark winter.

A lot is at stake during this time of year- survival itself-something that Scorpio knows intimately, which is why Scorpio season (and Scorpio individuals) is/are intense and deep.

Use this time to:

-say what you mean first/be honest

-investigate what’s really going on (without being suspicious, skeptical, or untrusting all the time)

-invest in the connections that really mean something to you/are lasting

-get into deep conversations

-take sex seriously

-find the soul of your lover/get intimate

-de-stigmatize that which has been made shameful

-talk about the things that people deem taboo, for it’s when we say what’s historically been unsaid that we create more intimacy, trust, and the ability for others to speak out about their experiences in this hard-to-survive-in world too

Innovation through Obstacles: Mercury squares Mars and Uranus and then opposes Saturn

Are things breaking down?

This week, Mercury has quite the adventure, squaring both Mars and Uranus in Taurus on Tuesday, July 26th through Thursday, the 28th and opposing Saturn in Aquarius on Sunday the 31st.

This energy will be most impactful and felt if you have personal planets or points between 15-25 degrees of the fixed signs (Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio).

Otherwise, you might notice it in others around you, your community, the world at large, or maybe not at all.

Not all Astrology impacts everyone the same.

Mercury

rules over communication, the mind, marketing, technology, the market place (think stocks, shops, and trade), as well as local transportation.

Mars

is the God of War and therefore rules over conflict and all things sharp. Mars wants to sever and separate. Mars is also our energy, drive, and how we take action.

Uranus

is planet of discord, chaos, and upheavals; innovation, revelation, and revolution. Uranus has the goal of ultimate freedom and independence.

With these 3 coming together in harsh aspect between Tuesday - Thursday this week, there are a few possibilities:

  • the breakdown of technology/appliances/transportation modes

  • sharp words/a sharp tongue/accidentally letting something mean slip

  • conflict with others

  • unexpected news/conversations/messages

  • accidents (be more cautious this week!)

  • innovative and new ideas that you want to urgently take action on

  • conflict (either inner or outer) between the houses that have Leo and Taurus on the cusp (those topics)

  • arrogance/strong need to speak your mind/strong impulse to be independent and seek freedom

  • mental breakthroughs

  • major ups and downs in the stock market

Saturn

is the planet of boundaries, limitations, responsibility, hard work, challenges, isolation, and things that take time and age. With Mercury in Leo opposing Saturn in Aquarius, the following are possibilities:

  • being told no

  • putting up a boundary with someone or someone putting up a boundary with you

  • being given harsh feedback

  • feeling mentally isolated or like an outsider

  • working on a project of the mind that is long and arduous (like writing!)

  • an authority figure establishing rules you don’t like

  • engaging in a difficult conversation

  • being stopped on a journey

  • speaking up against something old and outdated

  • difficulties presenting in the Leo and Aquarius houses (the topics these houses rule over)

Thankfully we have the Sun forming a helpful trine to Jupiter the same day.

Trines are easeful aspects that are of the nature of Jupiter, meaning they provide opportunity and good fortune. This could lessen the impact of Mercury’s interactions with Mars, Uranus, and Saturn, meaning that perhaps something wildly unexpected happens that feels difficult or will take a lot of effort, but there’s a silver lining to it or something good comes out of the chaos.

Or it could simply reflect an opportunity coming through in a completely different area of life. After all, both challenging and good things happen in the same day all the time that don’t have anything to do with each other.

All of this astrological activity this week is building up to the Mars Uranus conjunction in Taurus on August 1st…

which, thankfully, is receiving a sextile from peace-making Venus in Cancer, the planet that rules Taurus and is therefore in charge (which helps!)

This suggests that although things might be difficult this week; although we might have arguments; although things might be breaking down… peace and unity can ensue; things can actually end up being better than they were previously; we’ve upgraded something that was broken or wasn’t totally working before; breakthroughs and innovation may be the ultimate result.

This doesn’t mean everything will be easy or that we’ll have only rainbows and butterflies.

No. Hard work is still necessary. And we may encounter obstacles along the way, especially on August 7th as Mars squares Saturn.

Often when we have been stagnant or have been feeling stuck, we need a little nudge from the cosmos. That’s what these next 2 weeks are reflecting: Nudges that will push us to our edge where we are finally willing to change something- to get us out of our habits that perhaps have been self-sabotaging.

When 2 immovable forces come up against each other, something’s gotta give. And with Venus sextiling the Mars Uranus conjunction, there’s an easier way through- be it the support from a friend, a female figure in your life, or from family (Venus is in Cancer, a sign about family).

When times are rough or we are being asked (or forced) to change and innovate, whether by others, our circumstances, or ourselves, help is usually available- when we lower our pride and ask for it.

Having a hard Conversation: Mercury opposite Pluto

When we are emotionally activated, while it’s good to examine our triggers and not always believe our stories, it might also be reflective that a conversation needs to happen…

Whether it’s about how something hurt us, offended us, or how something unjust was said or perhaps how power dynamics are wielded unconsciously.

This planetary aspect is about honesty…

With others and with ourselves...

And the ability to go there, beneath the waters to the depths of emotion; to the depths of where we feel vulnerable; to speak up for what touches us the most, and clearly matters to us personally, even if it doesn’t seem like a big deal to others.

Maybe what activates us is a personal trigger and is more about ourselves, our own wounds, and our subjective thoughts. In this case, look within. Detangle what it is that’s really bothering you, why, and what you have control over to sooth yourself.

It could be that what activates us is a real threat, an unconscious statement made by another that hurts, or a real problem of how someone is exerting control or power over others.

In this case, we can use dialogue to bring about some semblance of justice. We can help others see how they might be acting problematically (not that they are problematic- separating behavior from identity). We can ask for support from others. Maybe we can take some form of political action.

Whatever is going on for you, try to separate yourself from the emotions without bypassing them. Feel them (amygdala activation) and sift through them, as though from a distance (prefrontal cortex activation). Maybe go on a walk while doing so to help process- this literally helps us to calm our nervous system and helps us not get stuck in a feeling or a ruminating thought.

The 2nd Saturn Uranus Square: June 14th, 2021

Today, June 14th, Saturn and Uranus make an exact square. Saturn rules over structure, commitment, discipline, rules, limits, and the status quo. Uranus is everything outside of those boxes, unexpected change, and is often the catalyst that asks us to do a 180 from where we are.

Whatever is pent up and restrained needs to be let lose. Whatever feels stuck has to get free. Where you might be holding yourself hostage to expectations and ways of being that are outdated or oppressive, must be looked at. When we ignore these energies, sometimes they come into our lives externally and sometimes forcefully, taking us by surprise. These planetary signatures will not be ignored.

This is the 2nd of 3 squares. The first was on February 17th of 2021. The third and final will be December 24th, 2021, signifying the final adjustment and end to this particular story. We are in the middle of a story where you may be reconsidering how to do something, whether to stay or go, or if a commitment you have made or are thinking of making is truly right for you. If you’re feeling anxious, stuck, or like you have nowhere to go, this aspect may be reminding you of what you’re not looking at, what you’re not remembering, or what you’re blatantly not considering as options.

Change is uncomfortable, especially when it means steering away from what the plan was, what the routine is, and what is safe. Ultimately, however, course corrections can help us to live more freely as our authentic selves.

While Uranus changes are often drastic and sudden, in the fixed sign of Taurus, it could be even more uprooting and surprising or it could be slow and steady. Nothing necessarily need alter today, nor will it in some cases. I’ve found these transits are strongest in the build up to the exact aspect rather than on the day of. We’ve been feeling this one for the last 2 months.

If you have personal planets or points around 13 degrees of the fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio), this may be more pertinent to you. If not, this will still be highlighting an area of your life. Which houses contain 13 degrees of Aquarius and Taurus? Those areas of life are being most impacted.

Jupiter Enters Pisces: A Sneak Peak of Good Fortune

Today, Jupiter enters Pisces, a sign where Jupiter can fully spread its wings without having to answer to the constraints and rules of Saturn.

Jupiter has been in Saturn ruled signs (1st Capricorn and then Aquarius) since December of 2019, limiting freedom, restraining possibilities, and applying rules to opportunities. With Jupiter in Pisces comes a time of no boundaries, expansiveness, uninhibited growth, and likely good fortune in whatever part of your chart that has Pisces on the house cusp.

While this is exciting, Jupiter’s entrance into Pisces is more of a sneak peak of what’s to come in 2022 rather than a permanent reflection of what will come to pass this year. Jupiter will be in Pisces until July 28th, when it retrogrades back into Aquarius for unfinished business until the end of the year.

This will look like a variety of things, once again, depending on where it’s happening for you in your chart and if this ingress is hitting any of your personal planets.

Here are a few examples:

if you’re Gemini rising, Jupiter will enter your 10th whole sign house of career, life direction, and public perception. Maybe you get a short term gig for a few months, which becomes permanent come the end of the year.

If you’re a Virgo rising, Jupiter enters your 7th whole sign house of relationships. Perhaps you meet the love of your life but they move away temporarily until the end of the year.

If you’re Aquarius rising, Jupiter enters your 2nd whole sign house of money and resources. It could be that you get a bonus for taking on additional duties, which come 2022, turns into a permanent raise in salary.

Good things are on the horizon. If you feel like something sweet is being dangled in front of your face, almost out of reach, know that you’ll get a taste of it now until July 28th. December 28th, 2021 - May 2022 will bring the full on dessert.

If you’re curious about this transit (and others) occurring in your chart, email me to set up a consultation!

Venus and Chiron conjoin the Sun while the Moon becomes full in Libr

As Venus and Chiron are entering the heart of the Sun in Aries in the midst of a Full Moon in Libra, so are our relationships entering the center of our hearts.

Whatever pain is being brought up in how you’re held or not held, heard or not heard, seen or not seen, and felt or not felt- be with it now.

There’s a purification process underway; a scaffolding, cutting away that which is old, dead, and no longer honest- hopefully so that a truer and more real you can emerge to create a truer and more real connection to those you love.

Hold a council so that you can hold each other in your truths. This week begins a new cycle in how we relate, the agreements we make, and how we keep love in our lives while maintaining the most important connection of all- to ourselves.

Be aware of your stories, try to sense the hurt in your body, and most importantly, recognize that you and your loved ones have free will, something that is often forgotten with those closest to us.

Sacred relating insists on freely choosing and honoring each choice, which can only be done with consent. Being told no is hard, but it’s ultimately better than holding someone against their will (usually unconsciously) or harnessing expectations they never agreed to.

Find the gift in the pain. Where we are most wounded is often where our healing superpower for others is contained.

Note* this transit may not be experienced as very painful to some. It all depends on how these aspects are hitting your personal chart.
