The Moon is in Scorpio,
setting off the intensity of Mars in Taurus making a square to Saturn in Aquarius. It’s likely this energy will be felt between August 4th-7th, but you may have noticed it all week.
The fixed signs (Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio) have been going through the gauntlet the last few weeks, especially this last week into this weekend. This energy is most potent if you have planets or points between 18-22 degrees of these fixed signs.
First of all, the Moon in Scorpio is in her Fall, in Hellenistic Astrology terms.
This means that the Moon can struggle in this sign with Lunar themes. Lunar themes include our emotions and body, as well as our relations to home, family, and mother.
These are the themes we may be experiencing strife with. Scorpio is the time of year in the northern hemisphere when everything is going to seed in the natural world as we are heading into the darkness of winter.
Thus, we may be heading emotionally into the dark material of our own psyche and unprocessed emotions from the past and exploring themes that are underground; that we’ve previously put into the grave.
You may notice difficult or intense emotional material surfacing that involves ruminating, feeling betrayed, angry, jealous, insecure, or vindictive- and this may also be showing up in the part of your chart that contains Scorpio.
The South Node of the Moon is also in Scorpio, which is a point about letting go and releasing.
We can feel extra tired or drained with the Moon co-present with the South Node, perhaps feeling “done with it all”-and have a heightened need for rest and for taking care of our bodies.
This would be thematic any time the Moon passes through the sign of Scorpio, however, it is extra potent due to the fact that Mars, planet that RULES Scorpio where the Moon is, is forming a square to Saturn.
Mars
is our energy, how we take action and fight, as well as how we express anger. Mars has sharp and hot qualities.
Saturn
is a cold and distant planet with high ideals for how things ought to be. It is a planet about rules, discipline, hard work, difficulty, exactness, boundaries, commitment, authority figures, tradition, and longevity.
Mars is the gas peddle while Saturn is the breaks. Mars says go while Saturn says no.
When these 2 come together in difficult aspect, it can be especially challenging. You might feel like you’re running a marathon, unable to take a break. Or perhaps someone gave you critical feedback and you’re feeling angry about it. It could be that you want to take action on something but are being stopped. Maybe you’re wanting to get somewhere faster than is possible right now. You might want to go somewhere or do something while someone or something else is putting up a boundary or saying it must take longer.
Whatever it is, the planetary energy is being amplified by the Moon in Scorpio opposing Mars and squaring Saturn today and tomorrow (August 5th-6th).
This weekend it’s a good idea to practice patience and kindness to yourself and others.
While this is all happening, Venus, goddess of love, beauty, and pleasure is forming a trine with Neptune, planet of dreams, delusion, and one-ness, exact on August 7th (but you would have been feeling this earlier in the week).
More on this later, but in short, romance could be in the air for you- or perhaps it’s a creative trance you’re in. The desire to see others through rose-colored glasses looms large.
Seeing the beautiful things about others is wonderful! And this aspect truly speaks to divine love. However, it’s when we disregard the negatives, put people up on a pedestal, or get carried away by fantasies that we become disappointed or disillusioned.
Venus’s opposition to Pluto, lord of the underworld, on Monday, August 8th, might have us asking the deep questions: is this real love? Am I seeing that person clearly? What do I really want in relationships? What are my fears in intimacy? Why is my avoidance attachment style or anxious attachment style being triggered?
These 2 planetary combos (Venus trine Neptune/opposite Pluto and Mars square Saturn/Moon in Scorpio) could be related. Or not. They may be representing 2 very different parts of life.
Maybe you’re struggling with boundaries in relationships, feeling rejected by someone you’re interested in, or feeling blocked in efforts to connect or create.
Either way, it’s a time for accomplishing something hard and deep inquiry…
Inquiry into your emotional reactions, deepest relational and creative desires, what you’re boundaries are in the world, and whether you’re prepared to summit a high peak…
or whether you need to re-evaluate the resources at your disposal and re-set for a long and arduous, but deeply satisfying journey.
