Today, at precisely 1:39am Mountain Time, Mercury makes its 3rd and final square to Neptune.
We last felt this Mercury-Neptune dance between May 18th - June 11th as Mercury was nearing the point of its Retrograde. Mercury is the planet of our mind where our thoughts, ideas, and plans originate. In Gemini, Mercury is questioning and logical, yet playful and creative. Neptune, however, reflects our dreams, ideals, and the desires that linger just beyond the veil, intangible, yet intoxicating.
In a square aspect between these two, our minds can become unsettled. This most often shows up as confusion, sadness, or mental overwhelm, especially when what we’re most longing for feels out of reach, is disappointing once it’s obtained, or is dissonant with what we tell ourselves makes sense. It also suggests deception, whether from yourself or someone else.
Neptune doesn’t manifest in rigid form, especially in go-with-the-flow Pisces. Neptune is fanciful, whimsical, and elusive. Mercury, on the other hand, wants to take one consecutive step after another and break concepts down into digestible pieces. This is a time to try and understand the incomprehensible; to put into words that which has no words at all. Thus, we are dared to listen to what’s abstract and articulate that which can only be felt.
Think back to May 18th - June 11th, with particular peaks on May 23rd and June 6th. What were you contemplating? Perhaps you’ve been set on a plan while an alluring invisible force was calling you elsewhere. Maybe you felt lost as to what you should focus on. It could be that an idea you had fell through or what was once inspiring no longer resonates with you.
This final square is the time for resolve. While initially still murky, clear waters are ahead. It could be time to take a leap of faith from an instinct. Or maybe what was left out of conversation with someone is revealed, giving you the information you need to move forward with something. Whatever the narrative is, clarity should emerge, inspiration return, and perhaps final decisions made.
Lean into your imagination. It often tells tales of possibility that we ignore or pin as unrealistic. However, if we believe these stories every now and again, we may find ourselves somewhere more beautiful than we ever could have envisioned.
Dreams are the stuff life is made of.
