We had a Solar Eclipse in Scorpio conjunct to Venus at 2 degrees of Scorpio today (Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at 4:48am MT).
Eclipses indicate times of change. They represent endings and beginnings. And with this Eclipse close to the south node, there’s a theme around emptying out and letting go of something, perhaps because you’ve enjoyed excess for a while or perhaps because it’s time to move on.
These themes are not new for you. We had the first Eclipse in Scorpio in May of 2022. And we’ll have a third eclipse in Scorpio in May of 2023.
In ancient Astrology, the Moon is known to be in her Fall in Scorpio. This is because Moon wants comfort and Scorpio wants to know what’s lurking beneath the surface, which is often far from comfortable.
Venus is also said to be in exile in Scorpio. This is also because Venus is a planet that cares about etiquette, social cohesion, and being nice and polite. Scorpio, on the other hand, doesn’t care for niceties or social rules. Scorpio wants the truth, plain and simple.
With both the Moon and Venus in a tough position during this eclipse, a moment of lights out in heaven where vulnerability is felt, we may experience some challenging changes with Venusian and Lunar themes that could feel surprising or that are simply disorienting.
And with Mars, the planet that rules Scorpio (where this Eclipse is happening), about to station retrograde in a square to Neptune, the changes underway may appear unclear and nebulous. We might be needing to retrace our footsteps, re-negotiate something, or review what we signed up for, with an unclear path ahead of us.
Themes of home, family, mother, body/health, relationships, women, beauty, wealth, luxury, and art may suddenly take a more complicated twist or become topics that have an intense flavor. Complicated doesn’t have to mean bad, however.
Astrology doesn’t make things happen to you. It’s simply reflecting life as timing unfolds, just as the Moon reflects the Sun’s light. And we have some power over the cosmic tides. We may not have control over everything that happens to us, and sometimes we have to go through hard things- there’s a time for everything. But we can have an influence over our responses and, as Astrologer Chani Nicholas says, how resourced we are (to the best of our ability).
Eclipses (especially this one) are good times to be well resourced. This will look different for each of us, but generally, some helpful tips are to rest/don’t make big plans, hunker down with someone you like, and take good care of your body and emotional well-being (Moon).
This is not a time to manifest or plant seeds of intention. The energy is too potent; the field too tense.
Trust that whatever adjustments are being made were meant to happen all along, even if we can’t see the reason behind them right now or they’re frustrating, don’t make sense, or add stress.
For, we are all on a soul’s journey; a hero’s journey- where we must trust our footing and continue onward, forging the path we were always meant to walk, gathering stories, learning lessons, and having fun along the way.
