On Thursday, November 9th, we have Astrology that is potentially volatile and disruptive. Firstly, Mercury enters Sagittarius where it immediately squares Saturn. While Mercury in Sagittarius is normally a happy-go-lucky and optimistic placement, the square to stern Saturn might have Mercury, planet of the mind, bummed out.
We might have a reality check, receive constructive criticism, be told “no”, suffer consequences of some kind, or find a limit where we would normally expect boundlessness. Additionally, Mercury rules over technology, modes of transportation, and communication. There could be tech or transportation difficulties or you may receive sobering news or have to have a hard talk with someone. Since Mercury has had a rough go of it over the last 10 days or so with a conjunction to Mars, the god of War, and an opposition to Uranus, the planet of chaos and breakdowns, this may be a continuation of the same story you’ve been navigating.
Thankfully, Mercury moves rather quickly and this energy will last only a few days. However, on Saturday, the 11th, we have Mars opposing Uranus followed by a New Moon in Scorpio conjunct Mars and opposing Uranus on Monday, the 13th.
Mars Uranus combinations are often filled with unexpected outbursts, rage, upheavals, and breakdowns of things. While this energy feels volatile, usually there is a change that has been waiting to happen and that needs to happen. However, with such high tensions in the air, it’s a good time to lay low, stay in if you can, and be careful, as this is an accident-prone time.
Since the New Moon is highlighting this Mars Uranus story, the lunation cycle ahead is filled with promises of shedding that which is no longer working and boldly breaking free of something that has felt stuck. Sometimes energy that we don’t move through consciously can come about in surprising or painful ways externally- almost as if the universe is trying to shake us awake from our slumber and get us back on the right path. Other times, we don’t experience the energy directly but rather, through other people in our lives or in our communities. It largely depends on where an astrological aspect is occurring in your chart/what house is impacted.
It’s likely that intense emotions will emerge and that grief or anger will be some of them. Find the rituals and routines that help you to release them in a healthy way. Maybe it’s yoga, perhaps it’s playing music, or maybe it’s working out.
Emotions move on if we let them. And while it might feel like we are being eaten alive by our feelings sometimes, what we resist persists. As Robert Frost says, “our very life depends on everything recurring until we answer from within”.
