Mercury stationed retrograde in Sagittarius on November 25th. Retrogrades are about reflection and review.
The period we will be looking back over, however, will be the period between November 7th, 2024 to January 2nd, 2025, for it is during this time frame that Mercury appears to be traveling back and forth in the same part of the sky.
We will be reworking something and making major philosophical shifts in our views.
You see, Mercury in Sagittarius is about our beliefs and what our story is. Mercury in Sagittarius is fiery and convicted.
This Mercury Retrograde cycle is unique because it will contact Jupiter by opposition and Saturn by square 3 times during Mercury's journey.
Jupiter in Gemini is on Mercury’s turf, while Mercury is in Sagittarius, in Jupiter’s territory. These planets are in opposite signs, bringing a tug-of-war feeling.
Mercury is the mind and communications, while Jupiter is faith and what we hold to be true.
This may bring about a sense of feeling divided or opposed, where folks may not be able to see each others’ perspectives.
Maybe you and a friend aren’t seeing eye to eye on an issue. Perhaps you’ve come to completely different conclusions about something. It could be that there’s a misunderstanding.
Mercury’s square to Saturn suggests that we need to do some major cognitive restructuring and come to a more in-depth comprehension of something through effort, learning, and difficult conversations. Saturn is a planet about integrity and asks us to be honest. Saturn is serious and calls on us to get to the heart of the matter. And Saturn is in Pisces, a sign of emotion, compassion, and empathy.
Mercury opposite Jupiter and square Saturn asks us to do the difficult labor of stepping back from our story, be curious, and question how we arrived at something. These aspects ask us to do the difficult emotional labor of asking for forgiveness and forgiving.
This work will be emotional. This work will be heavy. This work will require us to be tender-hearted. This work will require us to see each others’ humanness.
